SIG Activities

SIGITE is embarking on a set of activities. Some of these are internal in that they focus on improving SIGITE's operations, whereas others address more general issues that face the IT Educators Community. Internal Activities

Operations Manual

The focus of this activity is to document SIGITE's policies and procedures


Membership Initiative

The main focus of this initiative is to increase the membership of SIGITE


Student Involvement Initiative

The main focus of this initiative is to increase both the number of students who are members of SIGITE, and to increase the role of current student members.


Communications Initiative

The main focus of this initiative is to improve the communication between SIGITE and its members, both in order to better disseminate information about SIGITE's current activities, and to receive better feedback from members on SIGITE's operations and initiatives.


 

External Activities

Survey of IT Programs

The main goal of this project is to collect detailed information on existing IT programs in order to get a better idea of the size of our community.


Women in IT

The primary goal of this initiative is to attract more women into the discipline.


IT Research Agenda

The primary goal of this initiative is to formulate a research agenda for the discipline to further differentiate it from the other computing disciplines.


IT Model Curriculum Initiative

The main goal of this initiative is to ensure that the IT model curriculum remains up-to-date, and is revised in view of the comments received.


2 Year Curriculum Initiative

The main goal of this initiative is to formulate an IT model curriculum for 2 year programs, and to explore better articulation between 2 and 4 year programs


IT Core Exam

The main goal of this project is to create a national exam based on the core learning outcomes in the IT model curriculum.
