Held in Savannah, Georgia and sponsored by Georgia Southern University, CITC2 was the first conference open to the general academic community. The conference attendees formed the Society for Information Technology Education.

CITC1

The first Conference on Information Technology Curriculum (CITC) was held in Aspen Grove, Utah in December 2001 hosted by Brigham Young University. By invitation, eighteen institutions with IT programs participated as did representatives from ABET, ACM and IEEE. As an outcome of this first meeting, several committees were formed to pursue formulation of IT accreditation standards and the formation of a professional society.
